TL;DR Is Shareasale worth it?
Yes, Share A Sale is one of the best affiliate programs in 2019 and has a solid network of rockstar merchants that can easily make you thousands of dollars a week.
Fact is, I’ve been using it for several months, and have had no problems with it. However, affiliate marketing takes a lot of time and effort, so expect to work several months without a payout.
Affiliate marketing is one of the best online businesses in 2019.
After all, you could potentially make hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars every day—and while you sleep.
But you need to be wary of the guys that pay you ie. affiliates as working with a shady program could result in loss of thousands of dollars (think: they don’t pay you).
Enter: ShareASale affiliate program.
One of the best affiliate programs in 2019 and has a massive portfolio of rockstar affiliates.
In this article, I breakdown and review ShareASale and talk about the pros and cons of working with them…
But wait, why should you read this?
You have to take everything you read on the internet with a grain of sale, and the same goes for my content.
However, I’ve been working with ShareASale for almost a year and have actually used them, so I can confidently recommend it to other affiliates.
In fact, here’s a snippet of my ShareASale earnings this month—
Bottom line? I’ve used ShareASale long enough to have a good idea about it.
For better redability, I’ve divided this review into key sections, feel free to skip through sections that you’re more interested in.
ShareASale is an Illinois based business that’ been in the affiliate industry for almost 17 years, and they’ve worked their asses off to grow to the top of the industry (and remain there).
What’s more, they’re constantly making improvements to their affiliate programs—and have an overall goal of making both merchants and affiliates happy (something that’s surprisingly hard to find among affiliate companies).
It’s important to note that Affiliate Window (now known as Awin) acquired ShareASale on January 2017. For now, both companies run independently, but there may be some collaborations in the future.
1. Solid Reputation
As mentioned before, it’s important to work with affiliates that are legitimate. After all, those are the guys that pay you your commissions.
Fortunately, ShareASale has a solid reputation as an affiliate company and has tons of merchants (read: 4000+) and affiliates under their program. So when you join them, you can expect to get paid on time, every time.
2. Easy onboarding process
Unlike other affiliates, ShareASale has a simple, easy and free signup process (yes some affiliates actually charge you to signup!). The ShareASale affiliate program process takes about five minutes and you should get approved under 24 hours.
3. Rockstar Merchants
With ShareASale, you get access to pretty much all the most popular brands in the industry. In my case, I’ve found most of my affiliate (about 80%) already have partnerships with ShareASale.
This saves me the hassle of signing up with more affiliate programs and more importantly helps me focus on a single affiliate program (this is extremely important).
What’s more, they have tie-ups with lucrative PPL programs that are often highly sought out as they payout for simple actions like sign-ups.
4. User-friendly search function
Without the right management system, fining and signing up to the 4,800 ShareASale merchants can be a real pain. Fortunately, ShareASale gets this and has a user-friendly affiliate search engine.
I particularly love ShareASale because of this feature as I use their search engine a lot to find juicy affiliates that I would otherwise never find.
5. Great Customer Support
Another important feature of an affiliate program is customer support—and once again, ShareASale has one of the most responsive Customer support. This is particularly useful if you want to get in touch with advertisers regarding some issues.
1. No PayPal Payouts
To be frank, this is standard amongst most of the top affiliate networks, but PayPal is one of my go-to payment systems—and having integration with ShareASale would save me a ton of hassle.
Now, this isn’t necessarily a problem tied to the affiliate program rather it’s a feature that would be ‘nice to have.’
2. High Payment Threshold
ShareASale has a higher payout threshold as compared to other networks approx USD$50 which isn’t high at all, but I can see how it is a little high for most competitors.
What’s more, ShareASale warns users of account deletion if your balance hits below $25, which isn’t so nice for new affiliate bloggers.
I figured it would be a good idea to share some of my affiliate marketing experience, especially because I’ve probably scared you off with the disadvantages of ShareASale (read: high Payment threshold).
So here are 3 key things I’ve learned from working with ShareASale that I wish I knew when I first got started:
Tip #1: Stick to a single affiliate program:
Don’t get shiny object syndrome and sign up to every other affiliate program. ShareASale’s got a solid network that can make you a ton of affiliate income (think: thousands of dollars a week).
Tip #2: Market products you actually use or care about
Most beginner affiliate marketers are often flashed by massive commissions, but they don’t realize the amount of work involved in marketing that particular product (think: ancient medicine).
Instead, market products you actually use and/or are passionate about as the marketing for it will be that much stronger. Remember, the consumers of 2019 are skeptics and can smell bullshit marketing from a mile away.
Tip #3: Be patient as fuck
As mentioned, affiliate marketing is a lucrative business, but it takes a lot of time to build (think: several months). In my case, it took me about 3 months before I made a single penny,
But now, I make several hundred dollars a week. Bottom line? You’re going to spend a lot of time on something that won’t show you any real results for a long time, so you better be patient as fuck to keep up the hustle.
I’m often asked “Will this work?”
My answer to that? Of course, it does. Yes, some things work better than others, but anything can work if you put in the work to make it happen.
And the same goes for ShareASale. It works but will take a bit of time and effort to actually make it work.
So stop procrastinating and get to work!
